Bridges and Coaches and Telephones- Oh my!
Is it just me or has there been such a motley assortment of local news stories these past couple months? Between bridges getting blown down to the Burlington Telecom debacle to the Colchester School Board fiasco – it just keeps coming. When did we get so “Big City”? I guess that’s progress. As Vermont grows in leaps and bounds, we’re destined to have these things happen. All one can do it grin and bear it.
The good news? Punxsutawney Phil says only six more weeks of winter (phew!) and it would appear the economy is working its way to coming around. Now if we could just get our troops home safely and feel the warmth of the sun. All in all, it’s not so bad.
Whether you agree or disagree with what’s going on, it’s our little state and we love it. Speaking of agreeing and disagreeing – what do you think about all this? Let us know. Even if you don’t agree with us, we want to know. Hey, we’re always willing to be educated if you’ve got a good argument. Love your show!
What’s Going on?
Still can’t believe it’s 2010 already. Nice to close the door on 2009 and start again. Although, we have to admit 2009 ended on a high note with the show getting on air just before Thanksgiving. Sure, there are still some technical issues we’re working out but consider this – talks behind the scene about starting this station didn’t even begin until March of 09. Here we are January of 2010 and we’re on. Pretty good, no? The rest of those things, we’re working on and we’ll have them taken care of soon. Just bear with us.
Now, what’s coming this month? We’ve got some great guests lined up to keep things moving in this frozen month of January – from Bob Ryan from the Boston Globe to ESPN’s Doug Gottleib, as well as local comedians, writers and newsmakers. Is there someone out there you think we should have on air? Let us know. We’ll do our best. And as always, if you have an event you’d like us to mention, send us the info – be script, weblink or even a pre-recorded PSA.
Until we speak again, stay warm and keep us tuned in on your radio dial. Love your show!
Coach’s Latest Performance – Singing “Say Hey”
Enjoying Coach enjoy his music never gets old. Recently, he shared a song he found that he really like – Michael Franti & Spearhead singing “Say Hey”. Not only is the song infectious but you can’t help but love how much Coach loves it. And he sings it with such unadulterated joy. Sure, we might not all be blessed with the pipes of Michael Buble but isn’t it nice to see people enjoy seeing regardless!
If you have a video of yourself singing your favorite song, send it along. We’ll make you a star. Well, maybe just get a giggle but whatever.
What a Week!
Twas the week before Christmas and all through the city,
Not a snowflake had fallen which, at the holidays, was a pity…
… Ok, Ok, it’s not Coach’s poetry but you get the picture. It’s been cold and dark with no fresh snowfall in the area to brighten things up for the holiday. Hey, we’ll get some soon, maybe even this weekend. Just gotta be patient.
In the meantime, wait until you see what we have for you. As the holidays arrive and the year comes to an end, tune in to Corm and the Coach in the coming weeks as we’ll be featuring special guests hand chosen with the intention of jump starting your 2010. From finances to real estate and mortgages, physical health to stress management, life coaching to job coaching – we’ll have it here on the Corm and the Coach show on 107.1 WNMR. This just might be the year you actually keep those New Year’s resolutions.

Coach’s Poetry – Tiger Woods (insert groan and eye roll here)
It’s Coach’s Poetry today. And while it’s always a favorite, I have to be honest when I say it’d better be really good because it’s about Tiger and who hasn’t had enough Tiger Woods?! So, with trepidation but high hopes (is that possible?) we await the reading.
What can he possibly say that hasn’t already been said? Can it be about the naughty texts? Can it be another joke about hitting a 5 iron? Can it be about getting clubbed by a Norwegian? The options are endless. And while the stories of Saint Tiger go on and on, I supposed there’s always room for one more but only if it’s Coach’s Poetry.
After the reading, we’ll poll the jury in the court of public opinion.
Day Two is underway!
Day two is in the works and we couldn’t be happier! We still have some things to tweek as far as clarity and we thank you for your patience while we work on that. When the alarm clock rang this morning at 4am, gone was the worry about gremlins and glitches and in it’s place was the happiness you feel when you’re doing what you love. And we love doing this!
So, today we’ve spoken with Snocountry’s Andy Davis regarding the current status of skiing in the north. On deck is Villanova Coach Jay Wright and WPTZ’s Gus Rosendale for a little local flavor. And tomorrow, we’ve got another line up of great guests. Thanks for tuning in!
We finally made it!
You heard the news months ago and many even reached out to ask “when the heck are you guys gonna be on?” Just as we were ready to launch, a gremlin throws a wrench in the works and waylays our efforts. But for those who were up and listening to the radio at 6, er…, we mean 7, you finally got to hear the show. Yeah, one more bug in the system at 6 but after much ado, it finally happened. But, we won’t go on about that. We’re on. That’s it. We hope you’ll tune in.
But before closing today’s post, we really want to say thank you all you patient listeners who stuck it out through the wait and then through the glitches. And thank you to all who wrote, called, emailed or reached out in some fashion in the months/weeks/days leading up to today, the hours during the show and all day since. While today was far from perfect, it was perfectly wonderful to be back home – on the air doing morning radio to the best listeners in the Champlain Valley and the North Country!
